Pirates of the Mediterranean with Professor Jane Sancinito

Join Professor Jane Sancinito from UMass Lowell as she shares her expertise on ancient history, Roman social and economic history. We will discuss ancient pirates, exploring how Egypt, Greece, and Rome dealt with robbers at sea and how pirates themselves operated within, around, and at the edges of ancient society. In particular, we will discuss why and how the ancient and modern myths of pirates capture our imaginations and persist long after both travel and transportation took to the skies.
