In partnership with the Winchester Public Library, join us for a lively discussion on Horse by Geraldine Brooks. The novel is told across three timelines: 1850s Kentucky, 1954 New York and 2019 Washington, DC. It follows the story of Jarret, an enslaved groom who bonds with a bay foal that goes on to win races across the South. The story also includes an artist who paints the horse, a gallery owner who becomes obsessed with the painting, and a Smithsonian scientist who studies the horse's bones. Lauded by many critics for its searing depiction of racial injustice.
