About the Event

The Healthy Aging Workshop is a 7 week lecture series presented by Dr. Katie Wadland, Geriatric Clinical Specialist. You may participate in all or some of the lectures, please register by calling 781-721-7136. Each week will focus on a new topic. Decreased physical activity is associated with increased anxiety and depression and is linked to almost all of the diseases associated with aging. This week you will learn that 1 in 4 Older Adults fall each year and 1 in 5 of these falls cause serious injury or death. Once you’ve experienced a fall, the chances of experiencing another increases significantly. Using the CDC STEADI Initiative (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths and Injuries) as a framework, this talk will help you identify areas in your life that may place you at increased fall risk, and give you actionable steps to follow to decrease your risk of falls and falls-related injuries.
