About the Event

Many people know the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in a series of caves near an archaeological site called Qumran in Israel. But how much do we know about this site? How big was it and what was it used for? Join biblical scholar and archaeologist Nate Ramsayer for the second installment in his seven-part series Understanding the Dead Scrolls. In this presentation, Nate will give audience members a guided tour of the region where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found—the cliffs near the Dead Sea. We'll take a look at what other kinds of artifacts and material culture still survive from this site, as well as what the proximity of the caves in which the scrolls were found can tell us about the people who wrote these scrolls.
